Lake Park offers numerous clubs for everyone to be associated with new activities, meeting new people, collaborating with others, and making memories along the way. One club with a prominent reputation and distinguishes itself from the various clubs here is Robotics Club.
Countless students who desire to engross themselves in the subjects of math, science, technology, engineering, and even art certainly consider becoming a member of the Lake Park Robotics team. Here students gather into groups within the club and form a “team” in which they must participate in constructing a robot that will be used for games for the competitions.
“It’s a very comprehensive engineering project that allows students to develop a lot of different skills.” Mr. Sullivan, Robotics Club advisor, said.
Determined to win competitions and go to state especially this year as the teams aspire to work harder than ever before to devise new innovative ideas and technology to implement into their robots. The different teams all produce and invent different robots that will be utilized for the competitions.
“Our design, we try to make light and fast to get around the field better. This year there’s a lot of stuff on a field that makes it hard to move, so we’re going for a lighter, more nimble design,” Jacob Best (Lp 26) said.
“The game hinges upon gathering balls, like these blocks and putting them into goals,” Aayush Sharma (LP ‘27) said. “The meta bot is to be able to pick up around 7-8 blocks and then put them into these goals that are positioned around the field.”
These pioneering scholars encounter and embrace themselves with new challenges for every upcoming competition to produce new skills and techniques that distinguish themselves from other schools.
