As many dream to start their own music career, Aimee Escalante-Papp (LP ‘28) did that on her own at the age of 15. She, like many successful music artists we know today, got her inspiration from other artists. Some include Laufey, TV Girl, Stray Kids and many more. Aimee creates her music based on her personal experiences and what she went through in her childhood and up into high school. Many successful music artists use their own life and experiences as a structure for their songs as a way to express themselves and connect with their fans.

One of the moments that Aimee realized that she wanted to produce her own music was when her cousin gave her an idea of what kind she could produce. Another was watching documentaries and how different artists started off their career and how they got to where they are now.
“My music is generally about childhood and loss of mind when it comes to friendships, hard relationships that ended in the wrong way and mentality in certain situations. My only goal for my music production is to try and have people relate to the meanings behind my music and be aware that they’re not the only ones facing this way,” Aimee said.
Aimee wants her music career to grow as a sort of side gig. She is involved in many activities and higher classes that require a lot of extra work and attention. Like many high school students, Aimee faces basic struggles like time managing with the large load of homework that teachers can assign and extracurriculars outside of school can also make things stressful, but Aimee finds it helpful to make a calendar of her week to help keep her organized so she can make time for her music. All she asks for is support in her side career.
Aimee would like to collaborate with other music artists in her future. Some examples are Laufey, TV Girl, The Marias, Hannah Bahng, and D4vd. It is her goal, and dream to collaborate with these music artists, and it would make a great launch in her career. She is planning to release a new EP, Between Joy and Sorrow, in the near future, and had some advice for all Lake Park students.
“You can follow your dreams if you don’t procrastinate and feel like it will never work out. Trust your gut and go for what you want to do,” Aimee said.
Many of Aimee’s friends support her in her music career. Some describe her as hard working and very invested in her work. She is very passionate. Her friends recommend listening to her music once it is released because Aimee is an extremely creative person and that resonates with her music.
“Seeing someone my age chase a dream like this is very inspiring. As someone who is also trying to start a business in music–DJing. Aimee is one of the friends I look up to when it comes to following a dream, watching her balance her work, band, and homework makes me strive to be like her,” Aimee’s friend Vincenza Principato (LP ‘28) said. “When her music is live and published, I will definitely be using it and hopefully we can do a collab!”
For another one of Aimee’s friends, it has been a great experience to watch Aimee make her music, and to watch and listen to her doing the things she loves. ““When Aimee sets her mind to accomplishing something, she works toward it. She doesn’t give up on what she wants to achieve even when obstacles stand in her way. She’s worked so hard to get to this point in her life,” Kendra Meiner (LP ‘28) said.
While her friends may not have played a huge role in helping her produce her music, yet they have been asked for their opinion by Aimee to help her decide what sounds best or for their opinions on things involving her music. Aimee’s friends help keep her motivated when she is writing her music, she has great friends that help her and give her all the support she needs, just like anyone who is trying to pursue their dreams.
