The magic of movies has always been an entertainment for all to seek comfort and enjoyment in and shaping our imagination for years. One of our students here at Lake Park has embraced this magic from an early age and has decided to pursue his own movie making career.
Charles Seger (lp ’26) was inspired by directors Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, and Quentin Tarantino to become engaged with making his own films.
“The style that they do, the music, and the creativity of their styles, their movies, are really inspirational,” Charlie said.
Charlie has been devoted since the age of six to the movie industry. Some movies that inspired him include Goodfellas, Goodwill Hunting, The Godfather, Heat, Inception and much more from his admired directors.
With the innovative and creative wit, Charlie has initiated writing scripts for his films since the age of 16, scripts that he has written for his upcoming thrillers and dramas include:
Rooms: a newly constructed prison that seeks volunteers to try it out but things go awry.
Rockport: the creators of Rockport Industries embark on a new challenge that leads them to paranoia of their company business.
Money: members of a robbery industry get hired to rob a highly secure building and sooner or later learn that one of them is an imposter.
Psycho Killer: a man that lost his family and goes completely insane, turning him into a psychotic maniac that embraces for revenge and more as he loses all sanity.
The remaining 5 movies are Firefly, The Patient, Midnight, The Pill, and Death Note. These remaining movies have not yet been drafted but are Charlie’s upcoming scripts that are soon to be initiated.
An esteemed friend, Patrick Lavery (LP ‘26), is working on producing Rooms with Charlie.
“I’m helping him produce a new movie. He has always been attentive. He puts a lot of passion into the things he loves to do,” Patrick said.
Charlie’s ambition drives him even more to be renowned for his work. He plans on accomplishing his first movie The Pill to be finished by the end of December. As his high school era at Lake Park comes to an end he plans on attending Columbia College in Chicago and searching for experienced directors to work with during his college years.
Charlie provides advice to those who also are following the same footsteps as Charlie.
“It’s all about creativity and it’s better to start early than late so that you can have the best opportunities that are driven to you,” Charlie said.
