Every year, Lake Park’s Student Council hosts a beloved holiday tradition called Breakfast with Santa, an event designed to bring the school community together in a warm, festive setting. Student council members transform the cafeteria into a holiday space, filling it with decorations, music, and seasonal cheer. Each table is stocked with crafts for children and families to enjoy, encouraging interaction throughout the morning. A dedicated photo booth allows families to take pictures with Santa, creating keepsakes that capture the spirit of the event, while breakfast is served to ensure everyone feels welcomed and included.
Mr Pliszka attended the event with his family and highlighted the activities as a standout part of the morning.
“My favorite part was all the different crafts and activities that were available for everyone to enjoy,” he said. “If I had to pick one specific thing, it would be Santa, of course! All the children were so excited to meet him (except mine).”
Beyond the festivities, Mr Pliszka emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening relationships within the school.
“Breakfast with Santa is an amazing event to have at Lake Park because it allows teachers to connect with students, other staff members, and their families outside of the traditional school day.”
He added that the event fosters a sense of unity. “Nothing about the event felt like work or school—it was all about sharing joy and spending quality time together with family and friends during the holiday season.”
Student council members play a major role in making the event successful, from helping with crafts and managing the food station to taking photos and dressing up as characters like Olaf and Elsa to surprise younger children. For student council member Emilia Kaleta (LP ‘26), interacting with the kids is the most rewarding part.
“My favorite part is being able to interact and have fun with all of the kids!” she said. Emilia also shared why she believes the event is so meaningful for the school community.
“I think it’s a great event because it brings our school closer together and it shows us another side to the staff we see each and every day!!”
Open to faculty members and their families, Breakfast with Santa is more than just a celebration, but a chance to spread joy during the holiday season and show appreciation for the faculty who support students throughout the year.
