Screams of terror bellowed through east campus on Friday October 25th as students, staff, and community members gathered in the halls to witness Lake Park Theater’s summer slasher haunted house.
Lake Park Theater board members Julian Mosttowski, Meya Wiggins, Leo Troutman, Anthony Johnson, Luke Thomas, and Frankie Molfese put their heads together to brainstorm a wonderfully horrific storyline of death and destruction.
The theme was based on 80s slasher movies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, or Halloween. The theater board came together and meticulously crafted a screaming haunted house for the community, but it wasn’t just the board. The haunted house crew constructed large sets to immerse the audience in an eerily unique camping experience.
Once the doors flew open, student guides dragged the audience into a world of mayhem and panic with cannibals, murderers, and missing children.
The thespian sponsor, Mr. Erik Uppling, believes the event is very student-driven; without the wonderful actors and crew, it would never have been possible. In fact,
“The design commitment from the students and the overall quality far exceeded expectations,” Mr. Uppling said.
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved: cast, crew, and audience. Those who have gone through the haunted house in the past have left rave reviews, and some people—like Lina Carpenter (LP ‘25)—said it was the best of recent years and that
“People missed out if they didn’t go,” Lina said.
The thespians of Lake Park appreciated what they said was an overwhelingly positive response from the community. The thespians were able to raise a little over a thousand dollars due to the success of the haunted house. They thank everyone that came and they can’t wait to see everyone next year!
