As many may know, winter is coming up. And with winter around the corner, the arrival of Christmas is nearing. Christmas is an annual festival meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a religious Christian figure.
The holiday is primarily celebrated on December 25, with people worldwide celebrating. Christmas is the holiday where people put up stockings, spend time with family, and exchange gifts of joy and love. And what better way to celebrate with family than going to a festival?
Chicago’s annual holiday Christmas gatherings are being brought back.
From November 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025, Chicago is holding a drive-thru Christmas light show for families and friends to experience Christmas joy once again. The show is held at 3326 S Wentworth Ave, which is US Cellular Field, where the White Sox play in the summer. The show lasts from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission fees range from $23.49 to $31.99, and all tickets after December 23 are sold at $31.99 per vehicle, so make sure to get your tickets early.
Other Christmas celebrations will also be held in Chicago, such as the Christkindlmarket, the Illumination at Morton Arboretum, and Lincoln Park Zoolights.
The Christkindlmarket is an outdoor market, with roasted nuts, bratwurst, pretzels, spiced wine, and cocoa to be given out to participants. Christkindlmarket won’t be taking place at Wrigley Field this year, where the Cubs plays, because of the NHL Winter Classic. Instead, it will be held at two different locations: Chicago (Daley Plaza) and Aurora at River Edge Park. Opening from November 22nd to December 24th, the market is made to make everyone feel welcome and enjoy the Christmas spirit.
Following that, the beloved Illumination at Morton Arboretum will again be held. The event was designed to be a new driving experience for people to enjoy the array of a unique display of colors, lights, and music. Being around 30 to 40 minutes long, it opens on November 16th and ends on January 4th. Tickets are about $16, so make reservations and stop by to enjoy the spectacular show.
Finally, the Lincoln Park Zoolights are open from Friday, November 15th to Sunday, January 5th, 2025.
Lincoln Park Zoo will contain free, family-oriented celebrations and feature exhibits and holiday-appropriate activities throughout the zoo’s grounds. Animal exhibits will be staying open late for guests to enjoy the light show, music, and capture a few pictures with the beloved Santa. This event will be available from 4:30 PM till 10:00 PM, Cannon Dr. at Fullerton Pkwy, Chicago. So get together with your family, and go explore all of the festivals being held in Chicago. Happy Holidays.
