As we embraced the season of autumn, Lake Park hosted a Fall Fest to raise money for the various clubs and activities offered. The Fall Fest was held over two days during all 4 lunch periods, October 10th at East Campus and October 11th at West Campus.
“We were inspired to have a Fall Fest because students had so much fun at the field day in the spring. We thought it would be a good idea to have an event each semester,” Director of Activities Ms. Katie Hamann said when asked what prompted the planning of the two celebrations at each campus.
The Lake Park Fall Fest wasn’t only a fun way for students to spend their lunch period; it was also a great way to give back to the Lake Park community by volunteering to run a booth for your club.
Violet Colon (LP ‘28), a member of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), said, “I really want to be more involved in school and I felt like this was a great way to get to know more people.”
Fall Fest was a great opportunity not only for the participants, but for the volunteers as well, to get involved and give back to the Lake Park community.
Teagan White (LP ‘27) said that for her, the meaning of Fall Fest was to “have fun and grow together as a community for Lake Park and bring happiness to everybody.”
The Fall Fest included eleven clubs running individual fundraisers, including Cafe Connections, Sophomore Class Council, FCCLA, Black Student Union, Horizons, The Wishing Crane, National Art Honor Society, Student Council, Youth Advocates for Change, Art Club, and Blue Crew. Cookies, coffee, and donuts were sold by the various clubs. There was also a Kona Ice truck in the outdoor portion of the event, which was quite popular among students.
Various games were open to be played by students, including soccer, bags, and spikeball, which brought a welcome recreational aspect to the event.
This year’s Fall Fest was a lovely opportunity to bring the students of Lake Park together through fundraising and spending time together, while celebrating the change in seasons.
“We just want everyone to have an opportunity to be involved, make memories, and enjoy school events,” Ms. Hamann said.
“The Fall Fest was a huge success, bringing smiles to the students of Lake Park.”
